Yes We Can! conducting school tours
Yes We Can! Dothan is hoping to change public perception of Dothan’s schools by giving local residents a chance to see them first hand.
The education advocacy organization is sponsoring a series of tours of the city schools beginning on Oct. 20. The tours will last about 30 minutes.
Twyla Williams, Yes We Can! director of communications, said the tours would help correct many of the negative perceptions local residents may have concerning public education. Williams said the ultimate goal of the tours is to increase community involvement with and support of the schools.
Williams said the city schools are already receiving newfound support in an increased number of people volunteering and mentoring. Williams said she hopes the tours will encourage more participation.
“They say, ‘it takes a village to raise a child,’“ Williams said. “I believe we need to be that village. The more community involvement, role models and support for our schools, the better they will be.”
To sign up for a tour, contact Williams by Thursday at 794-3179.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can parade every parent thru every hall in every school in dothan and its not going to make any improvements. The majority of the students have not been taught any the core values of society at home . The reason is their parents dont have the values themselves. Thats not to say that all students and parents lack it. Just the majority in the dothan schools are lacking. So where does that leave the system ?
