Geneva shooting
Geneva County Shooting
A violent journey of more than 20 miles across two rural Alabama counties claimed 10 lives before the assailant shot and killed himself at a metal plant where he once worked.

Authorities say Michael McLendon first burned down his mother's Kinston house, while hs mother was inside, and then began driving east to Samson, where he killed seven people -- including some members of his own family.

As he made his way to Geneva, he exchanged gunfire with police and eventually made his way to Reliable Metal Products. He wounded a police officer before he walked into the building and killed himself.

The victims killed in the shooting spree: Lisa White McLendon, James Alford White, Tracy Michelle Wise, Dean James Wise, Andrea Dawn Myers, Corinne Gracy Myers, Virginia E. White, James Irvin Starling, Sonja Lolley Smith and Bruce Wilson Maloy.

Also injured in the shooting: Ella Myers, Jeffrey Lynn Nelson, Greg McCullough, Mike Gillis, Frankie Lindsey and Ricky Morgan.
