EUFAULA - Two armed robberies reported this week could be connected to a similar robbery at Kentucky Fried Chicken that occurred earlier this month, Capt. Tim Marsh of the Eufaula Police Department said.
The first robbery occurred Sunday around 4 p.m. A resident of Central Avenue reported that two individuals with guns came in her back door and forced her onto her kitchen counter. After patting her down, they took $200 from her back pocket and fled the residence.
Marsh said Thursday that the “home invasion” could possibly be connected to the KFC incident and another armed robbery that occurred at Fox’s Pizza Wednesday around 11:30 p.m.
Fox’s owner Beverly Harris and a former employee were leaving the store for the night when they were robbed at gunpoint.
“Four males came up to us as we were getting in our cars and one of them had a gun and pointed it at us and told us to give them all our money,” Harris said Thursday morning. “I didn’t have anything on me but my keys and cell phone, but my friend had some money and they went in her truck and took her purse.”
Marsh said the number of suspects listed in each case means there could be a connection in the robberies.
“There were four suspects in the KFC robbery, two with guns,” Marsh said.
“After looking at the home invasion case closer, it appears there could have been four people involved and there were four at the Fox’s Pizza robbery, though only two appear to have participated in the robbery.”
Harris said the incident has made her much more cautious about security and that she will take extra precautions from now on.
“We hope to catch these guys soon and keep something like this from happening again,” Marsh said.
