Clio town council member arrested on DUI charge
A Clio town council member was recently cited for driving with a suspended license, just two months after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Following up on a phone tip, the Dothan Eagle searched alacourt.com and discovered that Ronnie Ivey, a Clio business owner and town council member, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol by an Alabama State Trooper on Nov. 21. According to the incident report, the arrest occurred on Highway 239 in Bullock County at 11:35 p.m. The report says Ivey’s blood alcohol content at the time was .18.
Ivey was cited in Barbour County by another Alabama State Trooper on Jan. 20, 2009 for driving with a suspended license.
Multiple attempts to reach Ivey and Clio mayor David Grimes for comment were unsuccessful.
Ivey was recently elected to the Clio town council after a contentious race between himself and Tina Robinett Wood.
During the campaign, Wood claimed Ivey didn’t meet residency requirements to represent District 4. Ivey claimed he did, giving a Brundidge Street address as his residence.
On the Alabama Uniform Traffic Ticket and Complaint for the DUI arrest, Ivey’s address is listed as P.O. Box 283 in Clio. On the second citation, his address is listed as 1029 Brundidge Street.
