Dale County basketball coach injured in accident improving

Dale County Schools Associate Superintendent Lamar Brooks told the Dothan Eagle this morning that Dale County High School boys basketball coach Chad McKnight appeared to be improving at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
“I talked to Mr. (Phillip) Parker (the superintendent) a little while ago and it appears that Chad has made progress,” Brooks said at 11:45 a.m. “They were looking at moving him to a room later today if they had not done so already. They don’t think the fracture of the C1 vertebrae will require surgery. He will probably have to see a plastic surgeon for some cuts on his face, but overall his condition has improved.”
McKnight was seriously injured in a wreck at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Camilla Avenue in Ozark on Tuesday afternoon. Dale County head football coach Todd Horne died Tuesday night from injuries sustained in the accident. Three other coaches - Phillip Locke, Matt Phillips and Drew Danner - were treated and released with minor injuries.
Authorities said a vehicle that was driven by a 16-year boy from Ariton may have failed to yield while crossing the intersection.
