Fans continue to arrive for BamaJam
Traffic is not heavy but is picking up, as music fans began arriving en mass Thursday afternoon for the BamaJam Arts & Music Festival in rural Coffee County.
The 650-plus capacity RV park is almost a sea of campers, tents, motor homes and vehicles, as officials said close to 500 spots were filled by Thursday morning.
Organizers have advised locals to come into the festival by way of Highway 27 and turn onto Boy Scout Road, which takes festivalgoers right to the main gate and the camping entrance. Those traveling from Enterprise will turn left onto Boy Scout Road; those coming from Ozark will turn right.
“I wouldn’t take Highway 167 from Enterprise,“ said Billy Graham of Ronnie Gilley Enterprises, adding he expects a lot of traffic on this road.
Banners seen earlier this week directing the way from Highway 27 were not visible Thursday.
Up to nearly a dozen Alabama State Highway Patrol are on the scene to help as traffic picks up later today and tonight.
While the gates opened at noon today, performances begin at 3 p.m. with Shawn Hammonds playing on the main stage. Organizers added Hammonds to the roster of entertainers. Ashton Shepherd, Heartland, Darryl Worley, Little Big Town and Randy Owen all perform today.
