Houston County Commission to meet Thursday
County officials will consider several liquor license applications for Country Crossing Thursday during their 10 a.m. meeting on the third floor of the Houston County Administative Building located on North Oates Street.
Also on the agenda are several requests to fill vacant positions.
Agenda:
—Proclamations for National Farm City Week; The Salvation Army; and American Indian History Month.
—Request from Probate Judge to fill a full-time probate clerk vacancy due to the resignation of a current clerk.
—Request from Sheriff to fill two deputy positions and two dispatcher positions.
—Request from Sheriff to fill a vacated Licensed Practical Nurse position for the jail clinic.
—Request from Revenue Commissioner to fill vacated reappraisal clerk position.
—Request to approve departmental budget overruns per County Modernization Act.
—Request for 020 - Restaurant Retail Liquor License - Resorts and Entertainment Group II, LLC d/b/a Country Crossing Celebrity Restaurants – 300 Country Crossing Parkway, Suites #1, 2, 3, & 4 – Cottonwood.
—Request for 160 - Special Retail – More than 30 Days Liquor License – Houston Economic Development Association d/b/a Country Crossing Bingo – 300 Country Crossing Parkway, Suite #5 – Cottonwood.
—Request for 160 – Special Retail – More than 30 Days Liquor License – Celebrity Station, LLC d/b/a Country Crossing Celebrity Station – 307 Country Crossing Parkway – Cottonwood.
—Request for 050 – Retail Beer (Off Premises Only) and 070 Retail Table Wine (Off Premise Only) Exprezit Convenience Stores 2009, LLC d/b/a Exprezit 222 – 14341 South U.S. Highway #231 – Cottonwood.
—Request to approve 2010 recommended Holiday Schedule to present to the Personnel Board.
—Request to approve items to be sold on Govdeals.
—Request to approve “Area of Military Impact” Certification for Houston County’s subdivision regulations and “Area of Military Impact” Disclosure Form.
—Request from Town of Kinsey for 500 cubic yards of sand clay base dirt for the purpose of preparing a recreational trail.

I hope the commissioners do the right thing for Houston County, I have just read where 150 people will be laid off in Covington county. HELLO THIS COULD BE US!! Support Country Crossing and lets get our local economy back on track. Give them the licenses they need.
