Houston County opens seven more roads, several still closed

While 17 roads remain closed in Houston County, seven were repaired and open for traffic Monday.
Flowers Chapel Road, County Road 33, Cureton Road, Indigo Pond Road, Gus Hughes Road, Hollis Dairy Road and McArthur Road are all now open.
The following roads were still closed as of Monday evening due to flood damage:
County Road 203 in Rehobeth, County Road 203 at Saunders Road, Pleasant Grove Road, Crawford Road, Lonnie Road, Faulk Road, Springhill Road, Lamp Brothers Road, Pilgrim Church Road, Lewis Road, B.J. Mixon Road in Madrid, Mixon Farm Road, Pate Road, Doyle Holland Road, Pat Wells Road, Lanier Road and W.G. Bond Road.
Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said the county hopes to have most paved roads open in two or three weeks, but added that some road repair could take months.
Alabama Governor Bob Riley will be in Houston County Tuesday to review flood damage.
