Mitt Romney coming to Dothan to campaign for Jay Love
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former candidate for the Republican nomination for president, will be in Dothan Thursday to campaign for Congressional candidate Jay Love, the Love campaign announced today.
Romney and Love are scheduled to be in downtown Dothan around 1 p.m. Thursday to meet with voters. A private fundraiser is also scheduled.
John McCain defeated Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Guiliani during the recent race for the Republican nomination for president. He suspended his campaign Feb. 7 of this year, the day after the Super Tuesday primaries. Romney, 61, is known for saving the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City from potential financial ruin after taking over as CEO of the games. Romney was CEO of Bain & Company, a management consulting firm, and co-founder of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He then ran for governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and served one term. He did not seek re-election.
