MONTGOMERY (AP) — Former federal prosecutor Michel Nicrosi says she plans to run for Alabama attorney general as a Democrat.
The 45-year-old Nicrosi says she is filing papers Thursday with the Alabama Secretary of State’s office showing she will run for the Democratic nomination in 2010.
Nicrosi of Daphne was a former assistant U.S. attorney and had been considered for the U.S. attorney’s job in Alabama’s Middle District.
Nicrosi said she believes the attorney general’s office needs a prosecutor and not another politician.
The former executive director of the Alabama Democratic Party, Giles Perkins, has said he is running for attorney general as a Democrat. Republican incumbent Attorney General Troy King faces a primary challenge from Birmingham attorney Luther Strange.
