Paul Lee wins second term in District 3
Dothan City Commissioner Paul Lee said Tuesday’s victory over challenger Kenneth Everett was a nod from a cautiously-approving city.Lee pushed back a challenge from the former Dothan mayor Tuesday, easily winning a second term. Unofficial results show Lee with 1,577 votes to 627 for Everett.
“It makes me believe we are heading that way, in the right direction” Lee said. “But cautiously, we should never take anything for granted. A sound win doesn’t mean we should go off recklessly. We need to make sure we do our homework.”

Lee said he believed the results indicated the city trusts its leaders to “make the tough decisions.”
“If they don't like those decisions, they have a choice later on down the road to make changes,” Lee said.
Everett was a vocal opponent of the one-cent sales tax increase passed by the Dothan City Commission almost four years ago. Before the commission passed the tax, Everett told the commission the city could tighten its belt more before considering a tax. He remained a vocal opponent of the tax increase and also campaigned on allowing the people to vote on some other issues as well.
“The people have spoken,” Everett said. “I called Commissioner Lee and congratulated him. We're friends, and we'll go from here.”
