Pedestrian dies after being struck by two vehicles

A 22-year-old Graceville pedestrian died early Sunday morning when he was struck by two vehicles.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2004 Mazda driven by a 64-year-old Newton woman was traveling west on State Road 2 at about 12:07 a.m. in the city limits of Graceville near the Holmes County line when she encountered a pedestrian who ran into the path of her vehicle waving his arms in a playful manner. The report states the woman took evasive action, but struck the man.
Another vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old Greenwood, Fla., woman, came up on the scene from the same direction moments later and attempted to take evasive action also, but struck the man, who was lying in the westbound lane of traffic.
The report states Timothy David Shane Whitehead, 22, of Graceville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 12:31 a.m.
