Thursday last day to register and be eligible to vote in Dothan city elections
A steady stream of Dothan residents have been beating the voter registration deadline for the upcoming city elections, and procrastinators still have a few hours left to register.
Although most of the Houston County Administration Building is closed Thursday to observe the July 4 holiday, registrars will be in the lobby from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. to register voters. Thursday is the last day residents can register and be eligible to vote in the July 14 elections. Dothan will elect a mayor, three commissioners, a school board chairman and one school board member. Dothan residents will also be asked to approve or reject on-premise Sunday alcohol sales within the city limits.
Molly Meadows, chairman of the Houston County Board of Registrars, said she has seen a significant increase in the number of residents who have registered to vote in the past few days.
