MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Elvis Presley would be turning 74 and Barack Obama wants to use one of his songs in the inaugural. Not bad for a guy who died more than three decades ago.

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s birthday will be celebrated Thursday at his Graceland estate in Memphis, where he died in 1977.

The king may be gone, but he’s not forgotten, as the arrival of 600,000 fans in 2007 for the 30th anniversary of his death showed.

Elvis topped business magazine Forbes’ 2008 list of dead celebrities’ earnings.

The Commercial Appeal reported Robert Sillerman, chief executive of Elvis Presley Enterprises’ parent company CKX, said the inauguration committee for President-elect Barack Obama has requested the use of Presley’s hit, “If I Can Dream.“
