Editorial: One last win for Bates Memorial Stadium
Published: October 30, 2009
It will surely be a poignant moment when the Enterprise Wildcats take the field at Bates Memorial Stadium tonight. Unless the Wildcats make the playoffs, tonight’s matchup with Jefferson Davis High School of Montgomery will be the last game for the old stadium.
For more than half a century, Bates Memorial has been a backdrop in the drama of the lives of generations of youngsters.
Rather than mourn the loss of a familiar landmark, the old stadium should be treated to its best sort of celebration one last time — with a rousing win over the visiting team.
