Senior citizens will suffer most from health care reform
As a senior citizen, I am afraid and I am angry that I may lose my health care.
Veteran appreciates Honor Flight memories
Vanessa Araiza always had a sweet smile and a soft voice when she talked to the veterans about World War II.

Now we know ‘change’
I never did like acorn trees. I am sure God had a purpose for acorn trees, but I am very sure that the United States has no need whatsoever for this ACORN situation we are funding here in America.
Flowers would enhance Downtown Dothan
There are towns here in south Alabama that have this and are very appealing. Anyone who has been to the downtown area of Fairhope can attest to the attractiveness and the appeal of that town. The thing you remember and draws you back is how peaceful and pretty the flowers are.

Enjoyed letter
I really enjoyed the Sept. 3 letter, “Avoid scheduling conflicts,” from Jerry Clark of Midland City.
Educational excellence
They chose, because of bias, to be shortsighted and narrow-minded. It is no wonder we flounder around the bottom rung of the educational ladder.
Appreciates our country
There are a lot of kinks to work out of our system, and always will be, but you know we have a wonderful country and a great way of life. It is what we make it to be, not just by electing different politicians, but by who we associate with and believe in.
Selfishness
People seem to only care about themselves.

It’s not a bad word
The word is “STOP” and it is found at all four-way intersections.
‘We reap what we sow’
The longer our children stay in school the safer our neighborhoods are; nearly three-quarters of state inmates did not complete high school.
Be informed
Thank God many have read HR 3200. Had it not been for the outcry of the American people, that would have been the final bill.
Unintended?
Well, thank you for writing such a positive article on behalf of Commissioner Seagle. I’m sure it was not intended.
Kudos to the mother
Again, he was caught by the conservative majority in this great country.

In defense of gambling
If casino gambling were to be allowed under strict, enforceable regulations, Alabamians could create the premier educational system in the U.S.
Double standard
We should wait to see what is in the final bill. At least read what is in the plan yourself and not let others who have an agenda tell you what is in the bill.

Erosion and chaos
If Dad were here today, I’m sure he’d be shaking his head at the unchecked erosion that spawns the once unfathomable.
Slow down with reform
Indeed, what Congress is now trying to do may be the best thing possible for us, though it seems impossible to tell at this point.
Wondering
If a movie actor and a peanut farmer can be president of the United States, I think a blue-collar working man can be mayor of our little ol’ city.

Kudos for letter carrier
We are “more mature” and do not like to fight the traffic to buy stamps and mail packages. Using instructions provided to us by a handout from the post office, I ask our postal person to do these things for us.
Avoid scheduling conflicts
The class of 1999 has had 10 years to organize this reunion, and the smartest ones in this class decided to have it on a football Saturday night.

Enough, already
First, I agree with leaving Iraq; the U.S. doesn’t need another Army base in an outraged country.
‘Are you kidding me?‘
Leave it to Barack Obama and the Democrats to use tax-payer money to buy two failing companies, then turn around and devise a program that enriches the competition — foreign competition at that.

‘It’s later than you think’
Well, it is a start for the commission to represent the citizens of Dothan.
Appreciates Seagle
I know many more who appreciate Commissioner Seagle’s representation as I do — that we actually have a voice.
Reader speaks for herself
I believe the people of the city, especially those in District 6, were heard loud and clear in the mayoral elections.
All aboard!
Perhaps there are other children who have an extra train car or engine and would like to donate them to the library. Perhaps they no longer play with their trains and would like to donate them.

Government interference?
Congress has ignored the problems it should be fixing; Medicare and Social Security are headed for bankruptcy. If Washington would leave the economy alone, the marketplace would fix itself.
Pet responsibilities
Don’t be appalled by how the city pound treats animals. Instead, be appalled by how individual animal owners treat animals.
Appreciates postal worker
I am sorry your reader has had a bad experience with other postal workers. They are not all bad apples.

Impressed by the courts
I’m so impressed with our Houston County court system and the people who run it.
