A candidate’s pledge
Published: May 12, 2009
Ken McKissack’s May 6 letter asking the Dothan Eagle “to make the city of Dothan mayor and commission candidates go on record in writing to not support a garbage tax or fee” was very timely.
On May 4, the Dothan Eagle refused to run my paid ad announcing my candidacy for District 3 commissioner.
They said it was an “attack” ad. The only thing I “attacked” was tax-and-spend.
Guess what No. 2 and No. 7 in my list of 8 commitments to Dothan taxpayers said in that ad?
No. 2: No tax or fee without your vote
No. 7: No garbage fee.
Now if the other candidates will make the same pledge in writing.
The Dothan Eagle, a few weeks ago, published an ad for “Sweet Home Alabama” that attacked Sen. Jimmy Holley by name. Talk about a biased newspaper; they sure have a short memory.

Mr. Everett makes some very good points that are factual. It shows us all how biased the Dothan Eagle has become if you are pro-gambling, Paul Hubbard/AEA, and left leaning.
A great letter to the editor, but I doubt they will get the hint.
