Here’s what’s wrong with government
Published: August 23, 2009
The article in the Aug. 21 Enterprise Ledger supplement to the Dothan Eagle about Enterprise’s application for a $1 million grant for a broadband technology with $200,000 in matching funds from the city is an excellent example of what is wrong with our government at all levels.
If the author got her facts straight, the new public computer center “could contain up to 25 computers for the public to use.”
I know for a fact that top-quality, fully equipped computers can be assembled, installed and guaranteed by local businesses for no more than $2,000 each.
That leaves $1.15 million for the building, which would occupy the only library parking spaces that do not require crossing a public street.
I don’t believe anyone in his right mind would take that deal if they had to use their own money to pay for it.
