Letter: Keeping up with Congress
Published: October 28, 2009
Thanks to the Eagle for printing a section on how our members of Congress vote. Has anyone else noticed how often Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions split their vote? Alabama gets an equal share of 2 percent in the Senate, and these bozos seem to throw our voice away nearly half the time.
The next time they split, they should be fired. I don’t care what party they are from, if the bill is Constitutional and they agree it is in the best interest of Alabama, they both vote “yes” Otherwise, they both vote “no.”
Back to the Eagle — please consider adding a check-block near each bill if it only has provisions in it stemming from powers granted to Congress. Don’t worry about ever having to mark it; there will always be something ridiculous tacked on. Recently they created thought police (in direct violation of the 14th Amendment) and added them to the defense bill in the form of hate-crime legislation.
I would just like to point out how often they are doing the business of interest, instead of abiding their charter.

Hi BLG
If a person is not truly a Conservative or Libertarian, then thye must be something else philosophically and politically. You cannot be a Conservative 30, 50, 70, or 90% of the time. Shelby is a Liberal, no matter how describe it.
Senator Shelby is one of the most corrupt in Washington. Just google his relationship with Collazo. Collazo owns COLSA Corp (space & missile defense company). Shelby got Collazo a $50 million contract and then Collazo contributed $400,000 to Shelby’s campaign. Then, Collazo hired one of Shelby’s top aides as his own company’s lobbyist. Also, in 2004 a federal investigation concluded that Shelby revealed classified information to Fox News. This is just the info that is easy to get. If you have time to do more research, there’s a whole lot more.
Rob John- he may not be a conservative but he sure as heck ain’t a liberal or progressive. He’s just in it for himself. Glad we can agree on something- Shelby needs to be out of there.
Senator Shelby is not a Conservative. If you want to really track their votes versus how you would vote, then I suggest going to www.thepeopledecide.com.
