Letter: Midland City’s small-town drama
Published: October 29, 2009
I have been hearing and reading about the mess going on in Midland City for a while now. Only after reading in the Oct. 27 Dothan Eagle have I found out one major detail: Mayor Virgil Skipper claims the police chief “quit” after he gave him the option of “marking the car or walking.”
Come on, Virgil! Even my daughter, who has the attention span of a dry brick, mind you, knows if I tell her she “needs to put gas in the car or she can walk” means just that — walking, as in put one foot in front of the other to get where she needs to go.
Skipper needs to get off his high horse and give Chief Rinehardt back his job. He’s being silly and embarrassing the town.
After reading that fact, anyone in their right mind would know that the man did not quit.
I really hope Judge Quattlebaum orders Midland City to give Rinehardt his hearing.

That seems to be dale county’s claim to fame, old money/families thinking because of who they are and what they have they can decide everything for everyone else and can behave as badly as they want because nothing would ever dare to touch them or tell them they are wrong or try to make them responsible for their actions/behavior. It makes me sick
I lived in Midland City in the Mid 80’s to the early 90’s. The main reason I moved was because of the Skippers. They ran the town way back then. Whatever they said was law period.
