Letter: Musings on Sarah Palin; terrorism
Published: November 22, 2009
To answer a question raised by Skip McQuaid of Geneva in his Nov. 18 letter to the editor asking why Timothy McVeigh was considered a terrorist and not Maj. Nidal Hasan, it is because of the fear by the U.S. military that Hasan would be a victim of racial profiling.
It was that poor decision that allowed Hasan to plan and execute the ambush that killed 13 G.I.s and wounded 29 others. Yet, like McVeigh, Hasan was taken down and now has added himself to the list of infamy as a mass murderer. As with McVeigh, Hasan, too, will pay the ultimate price.
One more thing that should be duly noted:
Before the start of her whirlwind book tour, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was quoted by Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s “Hardball” warning that America “will suffer for its need for political correctness.”
In truth, she’s only half-right. While it is considerate to stress tolerance and understand of those Americans with different ethnic background s or religious beliefs, one must be careful not to placate or alienate others for theirs.
The aftermath of the Fort Hood ambush, however, should not give license for the U.S. government or any citizen of the right-wing fringe to persecute Arab-Americans or Muslims because of the despicable acts of individual fanatics.
I once stated that Sarah Palin was an ignorant bumpkin. I stand corrected. I meant to say that Sarah Palin was Richard M. Nixon reincarnated into the body of a attractive woman. God save America from her. Todd Palin can keep her.

Dear eyesonyou,
I don’t pretend to be a better than John The Baptist.
Far be it from me to try to decide which books of the Apochrypha are Canonical.
The 22nd chapter of Revolutions states what will happen to anyone who plays games with his Word.
The 11th Commandment of Ronald Reagan?
The entire Book of Mormon?
It was Oliver North, acting under orders of Ronald Reagan, who sold arms to ahminejad’s mentor, Ayatollah Khomeni?
It was Jeanne Kirkpatrick, acting under orders from ronald Reagan, who blistered Israel for bombing saddam Hussein’s nuclear power plant!
As an American, I am offended when the Confederate Flag is worn on lapels.
At one time, both the North and the South fought together against the perpetratore of the Mountain Meadow Massacre, the Mormon Church!
Since then, we have seen the Hughes Loan to Nixon and the strange relationship between the Mormon Church and the Southern Baptists.
Whose side are you on?

I am a bit confused at your rants against my beloved Country, America. If you are so dead set against everything here including “Jesus Christ” perhaps your interests would be better served with our enemies the Islamic World.
I am sure they would welcome a bright young scholar such as yourself. Why don’t you give them a call?
Dear Sirs,
President John Adams, President John Quincy adams, President Millard Fillmore and President William Howard Taft were all Unitarians.
In particular President Taft openly stated that he did not believe in the divinity of Jesus.
John Adams was the vice president for President George Washington and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention! Wasn’t he one of our Founding Fathers.
President Lincoln, reflecting on the schism within his own party, said “Eithe4r p-arty would rather see the defeat of their adversary thasn that of Jefferson Davis. You ought to have your heads knocked together.“
No wonder he bolted to the Union party!
No wonder the Radical republicans impeached his running mate!

I don’t understand why the left is so afraid of Sarah Palin. The liberals have control of the government and they are still whining about her. Is it because their choice for president has not really accomplished anything in the last year, unless you want to count the biggest government financial blunder in American history.(The stimulus plan) Is it because Sarah Palin doesn’t agree with killing and unborn child? Is it because she’s pro gun? Is it because she’s a Christian? Is that it. Does the left hate Christians? The more liberals whine and cry about Sarah Palin, the more popular she becomes. So keep it up. Her book proves she’s very popular. It’s a huge best seller. I’m sure she’s laughing all the way to the bank.
Dear Sirs,
Both Ann Coulter’s idol, Senator Joseph McCarthy, and Mr. Republican, Senator Robert Taft, complained that hermann Goerring did not get a fair trialo at Nuremberg.
Did he?

At what point do we begin to blame the “muslims” for their actions? All this talk of the “Good Muslims” is beyond me, I haven’t hear of any Good Muslims condemning the actions of the few “bad” ones. It is because their whole society is dedicated to the downfall of the USA.
Most people that don’t like Sarah Palin is because she speaks the truth and she doesn’t talk out of both sides of her mouth.
Islam really isn’t a religion it is a theory at best.
Bottom line, if they wear a rag on their head you can’t trust them.
So your position is that this was Not a Terrorist Act BECAUSE he is Muslim…And that Sara Palin is a xenophobe—Is that correct?
