Letters: Too many telephone directories
Published: September 23, 2009
I do believe we in the Wiregrass live in the land of plenty — plenty too many telephone books.
If there are not one or two lying in the drive, there are one or two at the front door.
Some publishers should provide a magnifying glass to read their books. Citizens appreciate the opportunity to be informed and to be kept current, but one has only so many cabinet drawers to house all these books. It concerns me that so many trees are destroyed so that all families may enjoy four, five or more telephone books.
Perhaps Pioneer Directories, Wiregrass Yellow Book, CenturyTel and Verizon could confer and agree to share the wealth. The public can use just so many telephone books.

Dothan is the only place I’ve ever lived that had more than one phone book. Not that it matters. Now we all have Google. Who needs a phone book?
