Litter is a problem

I am pleased to learn Mr. Mike West received an extension on his contract. With the ongoing rapid growth of our city, we certainly need good and proper management. Not having knowledge of all the duties of the city manager’s position, I am in hopes that he has some control and input with regards to street department operations.

My concern is for a very small section of street, but the every day appearance of this section could have a huge impact on someone who may have plans to join us with the growth of our fine city.
The appearance, if used only as a turnaround street, certainly would not attract the class and caliber of people that we hope will locate here.

I am referring to the small section of Bauman Drive, located next to Fountain Plaza. It is the entrance to the Daniel Circle and Sheila Drive subdivisions.

This small section of street seems to stay littered all the time and is very much an eyesore for those of us who travel this section day in and day out.
Some of us more caring residents volunteer to pick up litter, but in vain.

There might be the need for more “Do Not Litter” or “Penalty for Littering” signs posted, and there is most definitely the need for more picking up.

As the old wise man said, “There may be 10,000 people pass your home every day and maybe just one will come inside.” This means the outer appearance makes a huge impact.

So, if this situation has anything to do with the city manager’s duties, we would very much appreciate his concern and help with this small section. It could make that huge impact.
