Many faces of the GOP

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

Ronald Reagan said, “If you are better off now than when my opponent took office, by all means vote for him. If not, vote for me.”

Take yourself back to 1999 and answer the question for yourself.  Gas was $1.50 per gallon and our country had a surplus instead of a debt that our grandchildren will have to pay off.
Health insurance has skyrocketed and our homes are worth less money.

But if you listen to the GOP, they’ll tell you they have a clear plan to help the middle class. Their plan is to eliminate it.

On their theme, “Country First,” they have no record on doing anything but helping the rich. They they will wave the flag, scare you half to death, use religion or anything to cover their shameless disregard for everyday Americans.

I watch Fox News and the right-wingers condemned Britney Spears’ mother when her teenage daughter got pregnant out of wedlock.

Now they canonize Sarah Palin, a mother who had the same thing happen.

The GOP has so many faces you don’t know who you are talking to.

We went to war and cut taxes at the same time, pushing debt down to future generations. My father’s generation would never have even thought about doing that.

I watched the GOP convention tout the vice presidential nominee’s experience in the oil business. That’s half our problem — GOP people with oil backgrounds in the White House.

Are You Better Off
The South went Republican for Goldwater in the sixties in response to the Civil Rights Act passed by a majority Democratic Congress. It is time for us to get over it. It is time for the South to return to its Democratic roots in response to the economic crisis that the Republicans have slammed us with. We are just now entering the worst economic crisis that this country has confronted since the Great Depression! It will get much, much worse soon!
Top 10 States with Highest Poverty Rate, 2005-2006 1. Mississippi   21.1%; 2. District of Columbia; 3. Louisiana 19%; 4. New Mexico 18.5%; 5. Arkansas 17.3%; 6. West Virginia 17.3%; 7.  Kentucky 17%; 8. Oklahoma 17%; 9. Texas 16.9%; 10. Alabama 16.6%( the percentage by each state is the percentage of states population in poverty)
Are We Better Off?

Lack of Control, Regulation, and Policy by the Bush administration has led to the following;
Interior Department Secretary Dirk Kempthorne (appointed by (George W. Bush) promises reform in the wake of report on Interior’s Minerals Management Service Investigation. Investigators painted a sordid picture last week of drug abuse, illicit sex, conflicts of interest and illegal million-dollar contracts at an Interior Department agency. And some of the worst offenders may go unpunished.  Was Dirk Kemphone asleep at the wheel?

FDIC Sheila C. Bair Chairman (appointed by George W. Bush) Ben Bernanke Chairman
Federal Reserve System both charged with control, regulation and policy of the Banking system yet we have a rash of Bank Failures and Bailouts.  Were they asleep at the Wheel?

Secretary of Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr. (Appointed by President George W. Bush) responsible for Control, Regulation and Policy of the U. S. Financial System did not fulfill his Duties.  Secretary Henry M. Paulson and Secretary Ben Bernanke called for the Bailout of Bear Stearns the nation’s fifth largest investment bank the Fed put up $30 billion to guarantee Bear Stearns’s riskiest investments.  Were they asleep at the Wheel?

You get the drift those who were appointed by President George W. Bush have not acted responsibly to protect the U. S. Financial Systems.

The Blame for the economic problems facing the U S. Government clearly lies with President George W. Bush and those that he appointed to Control, Regulate and formulate policy.  Do we want 4 more years of this?

I was much better off two-years ago before the Democrats took control of congress.

Lack of Control
The following are mandated to enforce policy, enforce regulations and maintain control of the financial system of the United States.  With the increase in Bank failures/bailouts, bailout of Investment banker Bear Stearns, and the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, we must wonder why these failures are taking place. The Treasury cannot continue to hemorrhage the nations wealth indefinitely, its time for accountably from those that are mandated to enforce policy, enforce regulations and maintain control of this nations financial system.
