The worst is yet to come

In response to Zeke Stokes’ Jan. 28 letter, “Economic woes,” I agree that our elected leaders are responsible for the current economic failure, but let’s give blame where blame is due.
Stokes’ letter suggests that President Bush is responsible for the NAFTA (North America Free Trade Agreement) treaty of 1988.
The NAFTA Treaty was signed by then-President Bill Clinton on Dec. 8, 1993, along with dignitaries from Canada and Mexico. It was passed by a Democratic majority in the House and Senate.
President Bush did not have a majority in the House and Senate for the remaining two years of his presidency, 2006 through 2008. The Democrats were in control and things started unraveling then. Besides wars on two fronts, the American economy was strong and unemployment was down. Look it up.
President Obama’s stimulus package is nothing more than a huge pork project. There is little in this package to help small business and taxpayers. Most of the money is for long-term projects that will not help our economy now.
My advice to every working American is to get involved in local, state and national politics. My advice to everyone is to quit drinking the Kool-Aid and start thinking for yourself. Anyone who simply votes along party lines only contributes to the current mess that resides in Washington.
We can complain all day long about our elected leaders. But guess what? We put them there.
I’ll give President Obama and the Democratic House and Senate the benefit of the doubt, but I fear the worst is yet to come.

Looks like we have a “come to Jesus” meeting going on here. and about time we did.
Adding to what Mr. Cornett stated, There were other Democrat initiatives that contributed to this economic mess, such as Barney Frank spearheading the charge to lower standards for loans via Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.
Bush isn’t entirely free of sin in all of this, with the early bailouts of dying financial conglomerates.
Anyone remember Pelosi proclaiming huge changes whenever the Dems took over Congress? Nope. Why? none of them were achieved. that simple.
