‘Well said’

How refreshing it was to read an intelligent, fair-minded column in the Aug. 19 Dothan Eagle by Morton Kondracke, who is a conservative thinker of the Dole-Goldwater-Eisenhower-Reagan ilk, describing the current rantings of the screaming, “gun- totin’ mobs” at Democrat’s town hall meetings as hooligans. Well said.

As a lifelong Democrat I can’t imagine comparing any office-serving Republican to Hitler or proclaiming their wish to euthanize the elderly.

I signed a living will years ago with advice and assistance from Southeast Alabama Regional Commission on Aging.  I have been a very grateful recipient of Medicare and Social Security for a number of years.

Socialism? These irrational mobs would be wise to follow the proud beliefs of the above mentioned Republican leaders, rather than Fox News’ Glenn Beck, radio’s Rush Limbaugh, CNN’s Lou Dobbs or the ill-informed, very pretty retired Alaska governor.

This right here proves the point that the Left just does not get it, are too blind to see it, or too dumb to recognize it. It isnt about republicans vs democrat or left vs right. This is Americans of all backgrounds, race, creed, religion etc putting their collective feet down, and saying ENOUGH! Enough of this lack of representation in the Halls of Congress and in the White House, Enough of pushing your personal agendas for the “common good” of america. The people in Washington DC are so disconnected from the everyday folk it is ridiculous. How can the people in Washington actually justify the things that they are trying to pass as “good for america”? How does “punishing” the evil coal burning electric plants by raising their taxes, and fees 500% help the common america? All these companies will do, is pass this off on the consumer, Hello? does simple market economics not make sense to you people? when a fine or tax is put on a company, they pass that to the consumer by raising the price of the goods or services.

How about this healthcare for all garbage? I ,as a middle class tax payer, am already footing the bill for medicare, medicaid, social security, and all the other government programs, which by the way are FLAT BROKE and which i will never be able to draw from beacause of it. Why on God’s green earth should i sit idly by and watch as the progressive leaders run this country into the ground. 80% of the populus does not want government controlled healthcare.

It is not the governments place to tell us what is best for us. We can run our own lives better than they can. They cant even keep government programs running without borrowing money or… printing more money.

Our government borrows $2,000,000,000 a day just to keep the lights on!!!!!!!! HEllo People.. if that doesnt get you fired up about the way your tax money is being spent, then you better check your pulse because you might be dead. If you arent dead, you will be when the government refuses you medical care when you get cancer or heart disease or something of that nature.

IF you think this is about polictical parties, you are mistaken. ITs about life, and freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. Not supporting through my taxes an out of control government that is bent on socialist agenda’s

DoctorT- The Democrats are sinking in the polls because they are trying to compromise with Republicans.  And we all know how much the Repubs want to compromise.  Yeah right.  LMAO.  Pretty much, the Dems are not being liberal enough.  It’s funny because conservatives say how liberal Obama is.  He is a centrist.  Oh- and by the way- how can you say Dems have messed up everything they touched? Were you awake during the last eight years?

Being a Democrat doesn’t seem very vogue at the moment.  Democrats are sinking in the poles like a dead mobster with cement shoes off Long Island shores.

Mr. Goree, you may want to keep your political party leanings quiet, the Democrats have managed to screw up everything they’ve touched so far.

I guess that Fox News didn’t tell you that beginning in 1975, Social Security started automatic annual cost-of-living adjustments. The change was enacted by legislation that ties COLAs to the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index. If it wasn’t protected by the law, recipients would potentially be seeing a cut in their government checks. One more socialist program down. Silly, racist smile

So,Mrs.Goree people who don’t agree with your position and stand up for what they believe to be wrong for them and their families and country are angry gun totin mobs. The American people have had their fill of elected officials shoving their-the politicians-agenda down their throats without consulting their voters.“Doing what they think is best for them"Their angry alright they should be,we all should be,enough goverment intrusion in our life! Let’s see how grateful a recipient of Social Security you are in January 2010,when your Medicare premiums go up and your Soc.Sec. check does not,it will not have a cost of living increase in it.The first time in 35 years! According to your Democratic run White House,Senate and House their is no more inflation so no more cost of living increase for Social Security. They won’t tell you that on MSNBC or CNN. But, I guess you will silently just take it and go on without a wimper?
You should watch FOX news at least they have both sides of the issues on their programming. Why,doesn’t Olberman or his brother Rachel Maddox have the opposing views on their programs, they cannot defend their rants with facts!
The latest outcry about Obama’s picture made to look like the Joker caused great uproar among the left wing and Democrats, but where was your letter to the editor when the picture of Bush as the Joker was released. And should you disagree with Obama you must be a racist just ask anyone who voted for him.

I would like to see Bobby Bright face his constituents in a public town hall.  He is MIA.

Guess what, those people you are insulting and calling the mob are still your constituents and you elected pius jerks still work for US!

So if you would not keep looking down your long nose at us and do what we need you to do with out saying one thing here and doing another in Washington, maybe people would be calmer.

I am just getting more mad because our elected people don’t follow the peoples desires.  80% don’t want Obama care and what the helll do they do? They continue to push for it!!!  If that doesn’t make the grass roots angry I don’t know what else to think Mr. Life long Democrat.

I disagree with both above observations. People are tired of all government who imposes their will above the people. It is time for the collective voices to be heard that we are tired of government (both dem and repub) passing laws filled with pork that haven’t even been read by the people who are there to represent the best interests of the people. Don’t Tread on Me! It’s time for the people to say enough!!

As Joe Klein writes in this week’s Time, the Republican party has “jumped the shark.“ He goes on to ask how a democracy can survive when one of the major parties is demonstrably insane. The Republicans have gone too far this time, and lost all credibility in so doing.
