For some, their collegiate choice had been decided a long time ago.

AUBURN — Gene Chizik talked about his past month on the recruiting trail, which sent him from the faraway corners of Alabama to affluent Texas suburbs, as if he were on a college road trip with his best buddies.

On a National Signing Day with more twists and quick cuts than a Trent Richardson touchdown run, Alabama completed a recruiting season with 29 players that could surpass last year’s touted class.

TROY — Troy finished its 2009 recruiting class in grand style, closing with some help at positions of big need.
