Tide heads to regional at Coastal Carolina
The opponents read like midweek foes, but Alabama coach Jim Wells doesn’t think his baseball team will be looking past anyone.
Alabama is one of nine Southeastern Conference teams in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championships. The Crimson Tide (34-26) is the No. 3 seed in the regional at Conway, S.C. It joins host Coastal Carolina, the top seed, No. 2 seed East Carolina and Ivy League champion Columbia.
Alabama plays East Carolina (40-19), which finished fifth in the regular season in Conference USA, on Friday at 6 p.m. CDT.
June Draft may affect 2009 Trojans
Two days next week will be the first step to determining how good Troy’s baseball team will be in 2009.
The 2008 Major League Baseball Draft will be held June 5-6, and a couple of Trojans with eligibility remaining plus several signees are getting looks from professional scouts.
