Trotter out for A-Day game

AUBURN — Barrett Trotter is out indefinitely with a “non-contact ACL injury”, an Auburn official confirmed Friday evening.

That, of course, means Trotter will be out for today’s A-Day game, to be televised by CSS at 1 p.m.

Trotter, a redshirt freshman quarterback, was one of three realistic candidates competing for Auburn’s starting quarterback position this spring. Earlier in the
week, coach Gene Chizik said he would be giving more repetitions in practice to Kodi Burns and Neil Caudle, but did not rule Trotter out of the race.

Now, it looks like he’s eliminated himself.

Trotter suffered the injury in what was described as a physical 100-play scrimmage at the end of Thursday’s practice. Caudle also went down briefly with an
injury, defensive tackle Mike Blanc said.

Trotter joins a large list of banged-up Tigers heading into the annual spring game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Safeties Zac Etheridge and Mike McNeil, running back Eric Smith and cornerback Aairon Savage are confirmed to be not playing. Defensive end Antoine
Carter, safety Mike Slade, tight end Tommy Trott, wide receiver Philip Pierre-Louis and quarterback Chris Todd could also be out.
