Troy awaiting word from LSU on game

Troy players hoist the Palladium Trophy after beating Middle Tennessee last Thursday. Troy’s game at LSU Saturday could be postponed after Baton Rouge suffered extensive damage from Hurricane Gustav.
Troy University officials are waiting on word from LSU officials to see if Saturday’s 7 p.m. game at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., will be played. The city was hit hard by Hurricane Gustav Monday.
Troy media relations director Ricky Hazel said that he had heard from LSU’s sports information director Michael Bonnette earlier Tuesday.
“Just got a voice mail from Michael,“ Hazel said in an e-mail. “He said they have extensive damage, no power any where in the city. The campus has extensive damage. They are supposed to meet this afternoon to make a decision.“
If the game needs to be rescheduled, the likely date is Nov. 15, since both teams are off that weekend. However, that is at a point of the season where both teams could still be in the hunt for conference championships.
