Tigers’ ship sinking fast
This season, which started so promising (until the Tigers actually kicked off) is now fading faster than the back of Noel Devine’s jersey as he heads to the end zone.
It’s almost unreadable now.

Auburn better be careful to avoid another upset
A couple of upsets fooled the crystal ball a week ago as South Carolina roared back to beat Ole Miss and Vanderbilt did the same to Auburn. The week’s total were 4-2, the season’s stand at 40-9. Let’s see how things go this week…

Tuberville’s leadership faces test
A little more than five years ago, I sat down with ex-Auburn head coach Pat Dye for an on-the-record conversation about the state of affairs surrounding Tiger football.
As many recall, that was the summer just after the failed “coup attempt” on Tommy Tuberville that left the school’s supporters split into two distinct factions.
Tuberville calls a quick audible
AUBURN — First, let’s take you back to Sunday.
“He’s the offensive coordinator,” Tommy Tuberville said of Tony Franklin less than 24 hours after Auburn lost to Vanderbilt, 14-13.

LSU just too tough for AU
The crystal ball has come back with a vengeance since starting at just 6-4. Another perfect week unfolded seven days ago as a 9-0 showing runs the unbeaten string to 17 straight. Season totals now stand at 23-4. How long can this last? We’ll see.

Easy day for Troy, Alabama
After a somewhat embarrassing beginning to the season for the old crystal ball, the mojo was reversed last week with a perfect 8-0 outing. That brings the season’s totals to 14-4 and prompts hope to spring eternal for another hot Saturday in the pickin’ department. Here’s this week’s offerings…

Looking for better week
The opening weekend of the 2008 college football season saw the crystal ball get off to the slowest start in memory. A whopping four teams fooled the process. It all produced a 6-4 slate for Week One. Let’s see if improvements are around the corner…
