Basketball roundup: Andalusia boys defeat Dothan in final seconds

ENTERPRISE — Jamal Curry’s basket with five seconds left gave Andalusia a 54-53 win over Dothan Tuesday at the Enterprise Tip-off Classic.
Dothan had rallied from a 45-31 deficit at the end of the third quarter to take a 53-52 lead prior to Curry’s game-winner.
For Andalusia, Quayshaun Denson and O’Brien Curry had 13 points each and Jacard Townsend had 12 points. Jamal Curry finished with nine points.
For Dothan, Jamal Rodgers had 18 points and Greg Marsh 12.
Ashford boys 61, Enterprise 50: Ashford outscored Enterprise 20-11 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
Mike Ray had 18 points and Terry White 11 to pace Ashford.
Jourdan McGowan had 15 points — all on five 3-pointers — and Rhett Harrelson had 12 for Enterprise, which hurt itself with 29 turnovers.
Enterprise girls 65, Ashford 33: Emily Davis had 15 points and Mary Robinson and Ashley Smith 10 each to lead Enterprise over Ashford.
Daishu McGriff had eight points and Christina Rogers seven for Ashford.
Andalusia boys 56, Ashford 32: On Monday, Andalusia behind 17 points from O’Brien Curry and 14 from Justin Dooley.
Regular Season Boys
Northview 52, Barbour County 44
: Antonio Mitchell scored 14, Antonio Snell 12 and Levert Bristol 12 as the Cougars got the victory.
Barbour County was led by Takwain Whigham with 18.
Russell County boys 89, Eufaula 58: Aijalon Williams had 29 points, most off seven 3-pointers, and Rodney Cooper had 21 to lead Russell County over Eufaula.
Greg Hill had 14 points and Demonte Jett 12 for Eufaula (4-2).
Eufaula’s JV won 47-27
Regular Season Girls
Barbour County 47, Northview 19:
Jessica Whigham and Jackita George each scored 13 for the Jaguars.
Glenwood 62, Lakeside 47: Merritt Waddell scored 21 and Logan Adams 11 for the Chiefs, who had four girls foul out.
Houston Academy Thanksgiving       Tournament
Houston Academy boys 43, G.W. Long 34:
Jo-El Bennett had 22 points, including 17 in the second half, to lead Houston Academy’s win.
Carlos McLeod had 22, with 17 in the second half, for Long.
Cottonwood 56, Slocomb 53: Cottonwood rallied in the second half and won the game in the final minute. No details were available.
Ozark/CenturyLink Classic
Pike County boys 64, Rehobeth 56
: Kendrick Jackson had 18 points to lead Pike County’s win.
Tyler Phares had 15 points and Zaccheus Watford 11 for Rehobeth.
Headland boys 54, Carroll 40: Jeremy McKay had 19 points and Jahwon Williams 15 as the Rams (5-0) advanced to the tournament championship. Desmond Wells had eight rebounds and five blocks and Yorey Collins had eight rebounds.
Carroll, which plays in the third-place game against ACA, was led Tuesday by Darren Wilson with 13 points and Sylvester Sikes with nine.
Wicksburg 68, Providence Christian 64: Matthew Pressgraves scored 16 and Drake Rogers 11 to lead the Panthers.
Providence was led by Banks Smith with 26 and Caleb Jones with 16.
Abbeville Christian Thanksgiving         Tournament
Emmanuel Christian boys 92, Abbeville Christian 74:
Emmanuel Christian captured the tournament title as four players combined for 90 of 92 points and three had double-doubles to pace the Warriors (6-1).
Tournament MVP Garrett Golden had 35 points, six assists and five steals, Will LaCour had 25 points, 12 rebounds and five assists, Gabe Hall had 16 points, 10 assists and six steals and Ben Fain had 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocked shots. John Glover added 11 rebounds.
LaCour and Fain were named all-tournament selections.
For ACA, Dillon Wilson had 16 points and 12 rebounds, Brandon Oates had 16 points, Brandon Kirkland 14 points and five assists, Anthony Sellers 14 points and three blocked shots and Chip White had 11 points.
Dixie Academy boys 56, Ashford Academy 31: In the consolation game, Jordan Green scored 17 and Cody Drawdy 15 for the Rebels.
Ashford Academy was led by Preston Harris with nine and Michael Hand with eight points and nine rebounds.
Abbeville Christian girls 42, Ashford Academy 30: Morgan Hatcher had 13 points and seven steals in helping the Lady Generals win the championship.
McKenzie Bethune had 11 points and Shelby Spivey had 10 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Ashford Academy was led by Jenna Epperson with nine and Hannah Galle with six.
Geneva Panther Shootout
Dale County boys 67, Geneva County 38:
Dale County claimed the Panther Shootout boys crown, rolling over Geneva County.
Tournament MVP Brian Freeman had 21 points and seven steals to lead Dale County. Xavier Hightower, an all-tournament selection, had 14 points and Darrius Granger added 10.
Richard Williams had 16 points and Desmond Lett 10 for Geneva County.
Lett was named to the all-tournament team along with Freeman and Hightower of Dale County and Samson’s Tyler Rushing and Geneva’s Willie Williams.
Samson boys 66, Geneva 56: Samson earned third place, beating the host Panthers as four players scored in double figures. Tyler Rushing had 12 points and Josh Milsaps, Tray Holmes and William Baldwin all had 10 points. For Geneva, Tavares McIntyre and Jordan McIntyre had 13 points each and Willie Williams and Quan Tolbert had 10 points each.
Geneva girls 65, Samson 50: Geneva captured the Panther Shootout, beating Samson for the second time in a week.
Tournament MVP Cheree Duncan had 19 points, Kyia McNeal had 18 points and Kasey Carswell 15.
Rosalyn Bess had 22 points for Samson.
Carswell and Duncan were selected all-tournament team members for Geneva and Bess earned the honor for Samson. Also selected were Dale County’s Caitlin Watson and Bethlehem’s Paige Crutchfield.
Bethlehem (Fla.) girls 68, Dale County 28: Dale County played tough for two plus quarters before wearing down against Bethlehem in the consolation game.
New Brockton   Thanksgiving         Tournament
Kinston boys 48, New Brockton 43:
Kinston captured the tournament title, downing the host Gamecocks behind 15 points from tournament MVP Hunter Anderson.
Jacob Free added 13 points and Jayson Kelley had nine points for Kinston.
Michael Haynes had 10 points and Shambray Johnson nine for New Brockton.
Anderson, Free and Zack Day were named to the all-tournament team for Kinston. New Brockton’s Haynes and Johnson were also named all-tournament selections.
New Brockton girls 44, Zion Chapel 43: New Brockton won the girls part of the tournament, edging Zion Chapel in the finals.
Chelsea Holloway of New Brockton was named the tournament MVP. Teammates Jamycha Dunn and Kayla Purvis were all-tournament selections.
Purvis hit two free throws with 45 seconds left to give New Brockton the lead. She scored 15 points. Holloway scored 15.
Zion Chapel was led by Nicole Mauldin with 13 and Michelle Downing with 12. Both made the all-tournament team, along with Kinston’s Agee Evans.
Zion Chapel girls 43, Kinston 31: On Monday, Michelle Downing had 18 points to lead Zion Chapel.
For Kinston, Agee Evans had 10 points and seven steals, Madison Weeks had nine points with four steals, while Sara Mock had 12 steals and Mary Mack five steals.
Straughn Thanksgiving     Tournament Girls
Straughn 43, Flomaton 35:
Straughn advanced to the championship behind 13 points from Kimberly Teel. Tara Gafford had 12 for Flomaton.
Barbour County 47, Northview 19: Jessica Whigham and Jackita George each scored 13 for the Jaguars.
Elba 60, Opp 44: Jaquetta Daniels had 21 points for Elba and Soyia Fulmer had 19 for Opp.
Goshen 45, Red Level 36: Tiesha Jones had 13 points to pace Goshen, while Koneshia Calloway had 12 for Red Level.
Brantley 53, Pleasant Home 34: Eisha Person had 17 points for Brantley, while Kayla Woods had 12 to lead Pleasant Home.
JV Boys
Carroll 39, Wicksburg 34: D. Rivers scored 15 for Carroll, while Davian Johnson scored 15 for Wicksburg.
Middle School
Barbour County boys 52, Pike County 32: Emmanuel Thompson Jr. had 12 points and James Grubbs 10 to lead Barbour County.
Jamari Morgan had 15 for Pike County
Barbour County boys 65, Bullock County 44: On Monday, Barbour County beat Bullock behind 12 points from Emmanuel Thompson Jr. James Banks had 17 points for Bullock County.
Barbour County girls 47, Bullock County 27: Barbour County girls took the win. No details were available.
