Basketball roundup: Andalusia teams sweep Pleasant Home

ANDALUSIA — Andalusia boys and girls teams both romped to victories over county rival Pleasant Home Thursday.

The Bulldog boys won 83-43 and the girls 63-23.

In the boys game, Andalusia (5-1) was led by Jacard Townsend with 20 points, Jamal Curry with 14 and Victor Vincon had 10.

For Pleasant Home, Blake Herman had 13 points, Kody Taylor nine and Colter Poole eight.

In the girls contest, Andalusia (3-3) was led by Alexis Horton with 15 points and Shi-Amber with 13.

Taylor Godwin had nine points to lead Pleasant Home.

Graceville girls 61, Marianna 40: Graceville improved to 5-0, downing county rival Marianna.

Jessica McClendon had 20 points, Mychea Williams 18 and Wynterria Pittman 10 for Graceville.

Torch Classic
Northside Methodist boys 65, Covington Christian 43:
In Gardendale, the Knights improved to 7-1 with a rout of Covington Christian of Huntsville.

Sean Troester had 14 points and eight assists, Justin Snell 16 points and Shay Hunsucker had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

NMA plays Flint Hill of Bessemer tonight at 7 p.m.

Pea River Valley Conference Tournament
Girls
Elba 44, Kinston 31:
Jacqueta Daniels led Elba with 14 points, and Jane Carnley added 12.

Geneva County 30, Zion Chapel 25: Jasmine Smith led Geneva County with 15 points, and Bridget Williams had eight points and six steals.
Lydia Morris led Zion Chapel with nine points.

Boys
Geneva County 57, Zion Chapel 28:
Richard Williams led Geneva County with 13 points, and Desmond Lett had 11 points and three steals.
The game ended with 5:25 left in the game when the power went out.

Junior Varsity
Providence Christian JV girls 31, Dothan 30:
Brooke Segler led PCS with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Mary Palm had seven points, eight steals and four rebounds.

Junior High
Ashford girls 33, Providence Christian 12:
Shayla Thomas and Keyanna Turner had eight points each and Chrisshada Rogers six to lead Ashford.

Wicksburg girls 21, Rehobeth 15: Briana Sims had 11 points and six rebounds and Alex Shepard had 14 rebounds for Wicksburg.
Hallie Long had four points to lead Rehobeth.

Wicksburg boys 40, Rehobeth 11: Truman Whitaker had 12 points and Josh Blevins 11 for Wicksburg.
Wesley Pybus had five points to lead Rehobeth.

Middle School
Girard boys 48, Beverlye 22:
Billy Ford had 15 points and Anthony Reeves nine to lead Girard (7-3).

Beverlye 40, Girard 15: Lyric Grey had seven points to lead Girard.
