Prep roundup: Merritt leads Slocomb to victory

SLOCOMB — Lee Merritt scored 32 as Slocomb came back from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Geneva 78-73 and advance to Monday’s Class 3A, Area 2 title game against Daleville.
Clay Holmes scored 19, Andre Robinson 11 and Josh Adams 10 for Slocomb (18-9). For Geneva (4-20), Willie Williams and Tavares McIntyre scored 18 each and Jordan McIntyre scored 11.
Geneva led 44-34 at half but Slocomb led by one point going to the fourth quarter.
Daleville 56, Wicksburg 43: Tez Flowers led Daleville (11-14) with 25 points and Robert Owens scored 17. Drake Rogers led Wicksburg (13-12) with 14 points.
Class 4A, Area 2
Ashford 54, St. James 47: Terry White scored 23 and James Gardner 11 for Ashford (13-13), which plays Brewbaker Tech (19-5) Monday in the title game.
Brewbaker Tech 94, Opp 38: Gavin Free scored 15 for Opp (6-19).
Class 4A, Area 3
Andalusia 63, Hillcrest 58: O’Brien Curry scored 19, Quayshaun Denson 13 and Derrick King 10 for the Bulldogs (23-4), who play Thomasville Monday.
Class 2A, Area 3
Houston County 90, Houston Academy 42: The Lions (22-8) hit 16 3-pointers, paced by eight from Andrew Bolden, who scored 24. Desmond Warren scored 20 and Tyreek Granger 19.
For HA (12-13), Jo-El Bennett scored 13, Jack Cramer 12 and Emory Griffith 10.
Barbour County 81, G.W. Long 44: Takwain Whigham led the Jaguars (21-4) with 18 points and Willie Eutsey scored 12. Blake Parson scored 21 for the Rebels (8-17) and Carlos McLeod scored 15.
Class 2A, Area 1
Red Level 56, Excel 29: Troy Nolen had 14 points and Trey Salter 10 to lead Red Level (15-11), which plays Mobile Christian in the finals.
Mobile Christian beat Flomaton 52-51 on a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Elba 62, Cottonwood 51: Chance Goosby led Elba (15-9) with 18 points and Kareem Siler and Sandarius Reed each scored nine. D.D. Dawsey led Cottonwood (6-19) with 19 and Xavier Davis scored 18.

Reeltown 61, Zion Chapel 19: Zion Chapel’s season came to an end with a loss at Reeltown.
Class 1A, Area 4
Ariton 56, Providence Christian 49: For Ariton (7-12), Tyler Deal scored 22, Keeshun Leggett 12 and Dylan Burnham 11. For PCS (9-12), Justin Peak scored 17, Banks Smith 11 and Austin Gilchrist 10.
Brantley 87, Geneva County 51: Wesley Person had 36 points, most off six 3-pointers, and had 10 rebounds to lead Brantley (23-2).
Devante Porter had 17 points and Tori Upshaw sored 15 points and had 12 rebounds.
Desmond Lett had 18 points to lead Geneva County (4-18).
Class 1A, Area 3
Kinston 64, Pleasant Home 48: Hunter Anderson led Kinston (11-11) with 27 points. Zach Day scored 14 and Jacob Free 10.
Pleasant Home (17-10) was led by Ethan King with 13 points.
McKenzie 69, Florala 43: McKenzie advanced to play Kinston in the finals.
AISA Class AAA, Region 1
Pike Liberal Arts 41, Fort Dale 40: Nick McLaughlin hit two free throws with 0.2 seconds left for the win in the consolation game. He scored 22 and made the all-tournament team for the Patriots (10-12), who play next Friday in the state tournament at Faulkner.
AISA Class A, Region 1
Abbeville Christian 52, Dixie Academy 47 (2OT): Chip White scored 13 with 11 rebounds for ACA, which plays in the title game at 2:30 p.m. Jordan Green led Dixie with 16 points.
Abbeville Christian (18-13) will face Cornerstone Christian (23-0) in the championship.
Dixie Academy (19-6) faces Coosa Valley (16-10) in the consolation game.
Regular Season
Emmanuel Christian 62, Tallavanna 60: Garrett Golden passed the 1,000-point mark, scoring 24 points with eight assists for the Warriors (17-1, 7-0), who clinched the top seed in the PCC East Regional Tournament. Will LaCour had 15 points with 14 rebounds, Ben Fain scored 12 with 14 rebounds and Gabe Hall scored 10.
Emmanuel’s JV boys lost 48-45.

Class 2A, Area 2
Elba 60, Cottonwood 24: Kei-Auna Edwards and A.J. Whitfield each scored 14 for Elba (21-8) and Reality Singletary scored 10.
For Cottonwood (3-17), Kiera Dawsey scored 13 to lead the way.
AISA Class AAA, Region 1
Pike Liberal Arts 48, Lee Scott 38: Tournament MVP Rebecca Farrar and Eady Pinckard each scored 17 with 12 rebounds. Farrar, Pinckard and Anna Saunders made the all-tournament team for Pike Liberal Arts (18-4), which plays in the state tournament Friday at 9 a.m. at Faulkner University.
AISA Class AA, Region 1
Lakeside 47, Crenshaw 29: The Chiefs (21-4) were paced by 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists from Merritt Waddell and will play EMCA at 2:30 p.m. today for the region title. Logan Adams and Peyton Brown scored 11 each.
AISA Class A, Region 1
Abbeville Christian 53, Coosa Valley 44: Shelby Spivey scored 14 with 11 rebounds, passing the 1,000-rebound mark. ACA (17-4) plays in today’s 1 p.m. region title game against Cornerstone (18-3).
Florida Class 2A, District 2
Graceville 52, Holmes County 42: Mychea Williams had 24 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and Jessica McClendon had 13 to lead Graceville.
Mikayla Moore had 12 for Holmes County.
Cottondale 43, South Walton 36: Fourth-seed Cottondale (10-13) stunned top seed South Walton (22-4) behind 23 points from Jakia Grimsley.
Regular Season
Emmanuel Christian 51, Tallavana 12: Haley Futch had 14 points, Ana Marie Rogers 10 and seventh grader Syndey Blackmon had seven points to lead Emmanuel Christian (8-11).
