Dothan Tigers named team of the week
The Dothan Tigers ended a seven-game losing streak and gave new head coach Kelvis White his first coaching victory with a 21-12 win over Russell County in Seale.
Leartis Davis scored all three Tiger touchdowns and rushed for 114 yards and teammate Brandon Knight added 74 yards rushing to pace the Dothan offense.
McKinnley Greer intercepted a potential game-tying, two-point conversion in the end zone midway in the fourth quarter and added another interception in the first half. Greer also recovered a fumble, caused another one recovered by a teammate and finished with 11 tackles. He also returned two kickoffs for 42 yards.
Lorenzo Capehart also sparked the defense with seven tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery plus a blocked punt that lead to Dothan’s first score.
