SMITHS STATION — Willie Curry broke a 53-year-old Enterprise record as he rushed for 276 yards and four touchdowns, as Enterprise defeated Smiths Station 41-36. Curry broke the record set by Fred Tice in 1956.
Curry scored on runs of 59, 15, 90 and 5 yards, the final one coming with 2:31 left that proved to be the game-winner. It came three minutes after Smiths Station converted a two-point conversion to take a 36-35 lead.
Randall Solomon began Enterprise’s scoring with a 94-yard kickoff return after Smiths Station scored on its opening possession. Rhett Harrelson threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Nihjel Ferrell for the other touchdown.
Enterprise had a total of 356 yards rushing.
Providence Christian 27, Ariton 19: Banks Smith had a big night for Providence, rushing 31 times for 178 yards and a 2-yard score and catching a 25-yard touchdown pass from Alex Plagenhoef. Smith had 105 kick/punt return yards, 17 pass yards and hit three PATs. Plagenhoef threw for 98 yards and touchdown passes of 25 yards to Smith, five yards to Austin Gilchrist and 58 yards to Kyle Eriksen. Eriksen had 85 yards on four catches.
For Ariton, Craig Sanders ran for 187 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns (21, 69, 6). He also had 15 tackles. Michael Dooley added 10 tackles.
Holtville 28, Ashford 20: The game was delayed 90 minutes by weather. James Gardner threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Michael Ray and ran for a 2-yard touchdown. Ladavion Williams added a 5-yard touchdown run.
Ray had 99 yards rushing, and Ray, Kyle Welch and Michael Wigfall had six tackles each. Holtville took a 15-0 lead in the first half, but Ashford managed to close the game to 15-13 and 22-20. Time ran out on the clock with Ashford at the Holtville 7-yard line.
Charles Henderson 42, Rehobeth 16: K.D. Edenfield hit 9-of-15 passes for 206 yards and ran for 98 yards. Edenfield threw touchdown passes of 14 and 37 yards to Stanley McGee, 77 yards to Corey Dennis and 42 yards to Jabari Brown. Edenfield ran for a 7-yard touchdown and Dennis scored on a 31-yard run.
Dennis had 87 yards receiving and 65 rushing. Ladarius Sanchez hit all six extra points. For Rehobeth, Nick Powell hit a 33-yard field goal, Madison Williams threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dallas Snell and Zaccheus Watford scored on a 4-yard run.
Opp 30, Bullock County 6: Josh Thompson caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Gavin Free to start the scoring, and the Bobcats never looked back.
Richard Davis added a 7-yard TD run, Josh Scarborough a 2-yard run, Quadir Kincaid scored on a 3-yard run, and Hunter Jones kicked a 32-yard field goal.
Cottonwood 27, Samson 21 (OT): D.D. Dawsey scored on an 8-yard run in overtime after Samson missed a field goal. Dawsey ran 13 times for 139 yards and also scored on runs of 19 and 58 yards. Brett Moore ran for 101 yards and a 20-yard score. Desmond Debose ran for 80 yards and passed for 33.
Dawsey had 14 total tackles and three fumble recoveries. Justin Clark had 14 total tackles.
Straughn 49, Calhoun 0: Josh Dewrell ran for 61 yards and three touchdowns (2, 31, 2), and he kicked five extra points. He also threw a 13-yard TD pass to Zac Turvin. Dewrell was 5-for-7 for 112 yards passing.
Straughn had 416 yards of total offense.
Geneva County 53, Florala 6: Eric Walding threw for 73 yards and a toucdown and ran for 41 yards and another score. His TD pass was 23 yards to Desmond Lett. Lett also scored on a 65-yard run and a 60-yard punt return.
Patrick Fondren added a 26-yard fumble recovery for a score, Blake Simmons had a 30-yard TD run, Reggie Jones scored on a 56-yard run and Richard Williams returned an interception 40 yards for another score.
Walding had six solo tackles, an assist and an interception on defense. Williams had an interception as well. Josh Smith had five solos, three assists, a sack and a forced fumble, and Bradley Hutcherson had five solos and five assists.
New Brockton 35, Barbour County 12: New Brockton’s defense sacked Barbour County quarterbacks nine times and earned four turnovers in the win.
Tevin McNair led New Brockton, rushing for 180 yards and a 1-yard touchdown on offense and earning 12 tackles, including a sack, and also recovering a fumble on defense.
Matt Halstead had 11 tackles with two sacks. Justin Griswold had seven tackles, one a sack, and a fumble recovery, Sam Parker had six tackles, including two sacks, and Keundre Edwards had two sacks and an interception. Austin Bryant had five tackles and an interception.
Chris Green rushed for 92 yards and had two 14-yard touchdown runs. He also caught a 7-yard touchdown from Hunter Cauley.
Seth Culverhouse added a 19-yard touchdown run for New Brockton.
For Barbour County, Quantez McCrae threw touchdown passes of 12 yards to Larry Rumph and 66 yards to Jamal Blackmon.
McCrae finished with 166 yards passing.
Defensively, Terrence Brooks had 10 tackles for the Jaguars, Nicholas Patterson and Rufus Tyson nine each.
Pike County 20, Dale County 0: Class 3A’s eighth-ranked Bulldogs set up a showdown with seventh-ranked Daleville next week with a shutout win over Dale County.
The two teams mainly traded punts for most of the night, and may have continued to do so for the entire game if it had not been for three big Bulldog plays.
The first of those plays came at the end of the first quarter, when Marquavous Knox broke an 80-yard touchdown run to put the first points of the night on the board. Josh Parker’s extra point made it 7-0.
The Bulldogs would score again on their next possession, this time on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Parker to Stephan Foster. Another extra point from Parker made it 14-0.
Johnny Brown, Jr. punched the ball into the end zone on a 5-yard play in the fourth quarter.
Parker led Pike County on the ground, carrying the ball 14 times for 146 yards. Knox also added 99 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
The Bulldogs were without Chris Griffin, who sat out the game to further heal an ankle injury.
Daleville 32, Headland 9: Headland surged to an 9-0 halftime lead, but the Warhawks rallied in the second half with six scores, five on offense and one on defense.
Headland earned its lead on a 25-yard B.J.Kingston field goal and a 28-yard touchdown pass from Jahwon Williams to Yorky Collins. The extra point try failed.
Daleville began its comeback with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Matias Flowers to Brandon Burks on 4th-and-16 on the opening series of the second half.
The extra point failed, leaving it 9-6.
Flowers threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Joe Beckham. The two-point try failed, but Daleville lead 12-9 with 4:03 to go in the third.
Flowers scored on a 9-yard run to open the fourth quarter then Daleville’s defense earned a safety to make it 20-9.
Burks scored on a 23-yard run and Beckham on a 36-yard run in the fourth quarter to help the Warhawks pull away.
The Rams finished with 140 yards rushing, led by Williams with 51 yards.
Defensively for Headland, Kingston was in 10 tackles, Cory Walker and Drew Davis were both in on eight stops.
Geneva 18, Slocomb 0: Brad Horne threw touchdown passes of 24 yards to Jo Jo Tolver and 28 yards to DeAndre Dickens and the Panther defense earned a shutout.
Both Horne TD passes came in the first half as Geneva led 12-0 at intermission.
Tavares McIntyre’s 33-yard run in the fourth quarter made it 18-0.
Leading the Geneva defense were Zack Morgan with nine tackles, including two sacks, and Tate Southerland with eight tackles.
Pleasant Home 33, Kinston 20: The Bulldogs fell behind 13-0 early, in part to a Pleasant Home interception return for a touchdown, and never recovered.
Ludger Boswell rushed for 157 yards and scored on runs of 43 and 36 yards for Kinston. Aaron Rachel added 87 yards and a 9-yard TD run.
Kinston finished with 279 yards rushing.
AISA
Ashford Academy 23, Abbeville Christian 20: Danny Wagoner ran for 231 yards and threw for 198 as Ashford Academy won. He ran for two scores and threw another. Timmy Garrett had 101 yards receiving, including a touchdown. Preston Harris added 97 yards receiving.
Kyle Singletary had an interception he returned for 20 yards. Tyler Daniels had five solo tackles and five assists. Ian Allen kicked a field goal.
For ACA, Chip White threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Brandon Oates had 122 yards receiving and a touchdown, and he caught a two-point conversion pass. Shelby Watford had 66 yards receiving and a touchdown. Taylor West ran for 65 yards and a score.
Hank Walker had nine tackles and an interception, Corey Owens had eight tackles and West had seven tackles.
Crenshaw Christian 51, Dixie Academy 13: The Rebels earned 303 total yards, but couldn’t stop Crenshaw or turnovers.
Stephen Price scored on a 2-yard run and caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Eddie Marteli for the Dixie scores.
Marteli rushed for 117 yards and Price had 48 yards to lead the Rebels, who fell behind 45-13 at halftime.
Defensively for Dixie, Cody Drawdy had seven tackles and Price five.

Brooks County 29, Early County 9: Camery Flowers scored on a 20-yard run, and Ricardo Castro kicked a 19-yard field goal for Early County.
Seminole County 28, Terrell County 6: Chris Brown ran for 149 yards and a touchdown, and Barren Rambo had 123 yards and two touchdowns.
FHSAA
Pensacola Catholic 41, Marianna 20: Fidel Montgomery led MHS with 192 rushing yards on 30 carries and two scores. Marianna is 3-3 and 1-1 in district.
FAMU 18, Graceville 16: Graceville scored a touchdown on a pass from Jacky Miles to Darrell Olds with 38 seconds left and got the 2-point on a Miles pass to Chris Works to make it 18-16. GHS kicked off from the FAMU 45 after a FAMU unsportsmanlike, went for the onsides and didn’t get it. FAMU led 6-0 at halftime, but GHS took the lead in the third on a short touchdown run by Leron Hoover and a 2-point run by Miles on an option play. GHS is 1-4, 0-1.
