Dothan will be the host site of the 2010 Junior Dixie Boys World Series. Dixie Boys directors, while in attendance at the 2008 Junior Dixie Boys World Series held in Bluffton, S.C., awarded the bid to Dothan, which was unanimously selected as the host community for the 2010 Junior Dixie Boys World Series.
The City of Dothan Department of Leisure Services staff prepared and presented the bid for consideration. The City of Dothan has been involved with Dixie Baseball since its inception and has a long list of tournament experience including five Dixie World Series events. All support amenities (service and entertainment) are located within minutes of the Westgate Park-Miracle Field Complex.
Sandy Jones, commissioner/CEO stated: “I have had the pleasure of working with the City of Dothan on many occasions. I can express without any reservations that Dothan, Alabama will do an excellent job as host of the 2010 Junior Dixie Boys World Series. Visitors to Dothan will enjoy the warm reception they receive and will be equally impressed with the city and an abundance of quality recreation facilities. The Department of Leisure Services has been recognized for its achievements on both the National and State level.”
