EUFAULA — Right-hander India Kornegay struck out 25 batters to help power No. 9 Eufaula to a 1-0 win against Class 6A Dothan Tuesday night in 10 innings. Kornegay surrendered three hits and did not issue a walk in the win.

Midland City — Zack Byrd pitched a one-hitter and struck out seven as Dale County shut out Houston County 10-0.
Raiders pound out the hits
SKIPPERVILLE — Houston Academy won a pair of games Friday at the Southeastern Alabama Invitational, but it wasn’t enough to advance to the tournament semifinals. HA downed G.W. Long 10-7 then had to rally in the bottom of the eighth to edge Carroll 19-18 after blowing a 17-5 lead.

GULF SHORES — Rehobeth’s softball team won four straight games with shutouts to reach the championship of the Nike Gulf Coast Classic before falling to Class 6A power Hueytown in the finals early Thursday morning.

Southeastern Alabama tourney set
Before the Southeastern Alabama Invitational baseball tournament could begin its inaugural run, an uninvited guest ruined the plans. The weather postponed the two-campus, eight-team tournament’s start date, as high winds, rain and even some fires descended on the Wiregrass.
