11 a.m. CST update - got time to kill in the Atlanta airport, so I found this link.
ST. PETE TIMES: Kickin’ back with Elbert Mack
BY THE WAY, I’ll take OSU-Stillwater by two touchdowns over OSU-Columbus.
——————————————-
Ugh. It’s still dark outside, and for the second straight Sunday, I’m watching the sun rise at an airport. What was I thinking back when I reserved these early flights? At least I’m flying back into Dothan this week.
DOTHAN EAGLE: Oklahoma State trounces Troy - That’s my gamer
DOTHAN EAGLE: Troy notebook: Fake punt fools Trojans
I need some breakfast and this connection isn’t great, so I don’t have time to sift through links from Oklahoma papers, but I am sure the fine folks I met, conversed with and linked throughout the week from the Daily Oklahoma, Tulsa World, Associated Press and others have fine coverage from the game.
Should have noted last night, OSU had the nicest press box bathroom I’ve ever been in or will see. Thanks, T. Boone. I drank so much water that I would have to use your bathroom five times last night, so I’m not sure how much I contributed or took away from your alternative energy plans.
Now, on the INSIDE THE GAME feature, I’ll take recommendations for best and worst plays from the offense and defense. For the offense, I’m thinking Jerrel’s touchdown (or 34-yard run) and Jamie’s second interception, since I didn’t see that one. Defense, well maybe it might not be too wise to pick on them too much but I can’t remember many good plays, either. I might go through the fake punt instead.

A mudhole, and I’m not too surprised. OSU was fired up and I’m pretty sure Gundy wanted to run it up. But they barely threw the ball in the second half, so you can’t fault that. Troy couldn’t stop the run. Somehow they forget how to tackle when playing the big boys.
Jorrick Calvin will have a couple of quotes that make you wonder what the (expletive) in relation to OSU’s offense. I won’t give away the surprise, but my stuff should be online in roughly an hour. Smart guy, looked great on returns, but wasn’t really thinking. Nothing bulletin-board material, just not a real bright respounse.
I still think Troy’s got enough what it takes to win the Sun Belt. The offense was poised, but had 3 critical turnovers. HOWEVER, they won’t face a defense or offense as good as the one they faced tonight all year long. Will they win the Belt? Not sure. The next game is tough at FAU, but FAU’s done nothing to make me think that Troy won’t do much against them, and it’s on national TV.
Brandon Lang left with a slight tweak to the knee, nothing major and he’ll be back next week. Terence Moore got helped off the field but returned.
I’m going back to Oklahoma City, so I may not see any comments till later tonight or tomorrow.

Post any questions in the comment below.
We’re about an hour from kickoff, 64:15 as I type this, and getting ready to go.
Of note, Jorrick Calvin will be returning punts. No one else other than Kenny Mainor is injured or suspended.
3:40 left in first quarter - OSU 7, Troy 0. Trojans moving it a little bit, but not enough. Hampton had a pass tipped for an INT. Harris lost a fumble out of bounds but Troy kept possession. Could have been a big gain. Troy’s defensive backs are playing 10 yards off the receivers. Not sure if that’s coaching or player reaction.
END OF FIRST QUARTER - OSU 14, Troy 0. The tipped INT gave OSU more momentum to get a TD, this time on a 4-yard run. OSU doesn’t appear to be that much more dominant, but they’re playing like it. This might be a long night for the Trojans. Time of possession - 11:38 OSU, 3:22 Troy (approximate)
9:41 in 2nd - Boris commits dumb personal foul penalty, yanked for Xavier Lamb, OSU at the Troy 35.
7:28 left in 2nd - OSU scores again, on a 26-yard TD pass, Bryant beat Calvin. No one can cover Dez Bryant. 2 OSU TDs have come off Troy turnovers.
5:12 left in 2nd - Troy strikes back with a good drive, they’re finding something with the run game. Hampton 5-yard pass to Silvoy for the TD, then Hampton takes a shot a second after the pass (no flag)
2:45 left in 2nd - Still, noone can cover Dez Bryant, who scored his 3rd TD of the game on a beautiful pump fake. He burned Trevor Ford, Tavares Williams pushed him after he crossed the plane, personal foul called on Troy. 28-7 OSU
HALFTIME - If you thought last year’s blowout was bad….oof. Troy’s getting mudholed. No one can cover Dez Bryant or pressure OSU’s quarterback. Not sure how much more I can post because of nighttime deadlines, but post questions and I’ll answer as time permits.
Zac Robinson is 13-of-14 for 213 yards and 3 TDs, all to Dez Bryant who has 118 yards on 6 catches
Hampton 14-23-1-131 yrads, Harris 7 rush 34 yards 3 rec 43 yards
END OF THIRD QUARTER - Now 45-17. Troy’s special teams is fine, offense is showing some things that make you think they’ll be good in conference play, and defense just really hasn’t been there. Probably a depth thing, but OSU has definitely been fired up from the get go.
Brandon Lang had hobbled off the field earlier, but it looks like he’s fine. Don’t think he’ll get back in the game, but no reason to. John Mark Patrick went in in his place.
Largest crowd in OSU history - 52,463. Meanwhile, Hampton hits Fred Turner, it’s now 45-24.

It’s time. Don’t forget to set your phone or e-mail for twitter scoring updates (see below) if you need them.
DOTHAN EAGLE: Troy hopes to build on last week’s offensive output - not real sure why the pic is of the OSU QB
TULSA WORLD: OSU tries to score even in rematch with Troy
TULSA WORLD: OSU expects 50K crowd - golly gee, I better get there an hour earlier than planned
TULSA WORLD: OSU may be without tight end Pettigrew - that would be a big loss. He’s real good
DAILY OKLAHOMAN: Don’t expect bend but don’t break defense from OSU
DAILY OKLAHOMAN: Credit Gundy for gambling on Robinson
I guess the funny part about the people at my hotel, the Oklahoma City Marriott (which I got a rate of only $80 per night) is that every male I see is wearing a slow-pitch softball uniform (complete with belt, pants, team socks and all) or dressed as a cowboy. There’s some big-time softball tournament going on around town and I guess I’m just not used to seeing men decked out in cowboy apparel - hat, boots and all.

OKLAHOMA CITY—Here I am, about an hour from the game site tomorrow where I’ll be covering Troy vs. Oklahoma State in Stillwater. I got here earlier this afternoon, but with the lack of sleep last night and plane rides this morning, I had to take a nap.
The links for the week—game coverage and a recruiting commitment—are all spread out over the next few pages.
Since tomorrow’s game won’t be streamed or televised, I’d welcome you to sign up on HERE and add me as to follow. That’s the page and what you see is what you get.
You can sign up your cell phone under “SETTINGS” then “DEVICES” and get it to send text updates. Then, check the people you are following, make sure you are following me (dothaneagletroy) and check the box to get text updates for me. If you’re following a million others, you can check the box to “off” to not get messages from them if you are just looking for score updates.
Usually with that I’ll send score updates from all sports whenever I get them, and the football ones will be sent out regularly. So if you’re driving, or at a wedding, you can have your phone vibrate with an update.
Hopefully you’ll check it out. The link is also right under my mug on this blog (look to the right), but I wanted to explain it a bit more. There are several fans who are following me on twitter and getting the updates either to their phone, e-mail, or just on the web site.
Also, if you do follow me via the text, let me know if it works or doesn’t work.
