Well, hopefully you read my football and basketball notes in yesterday’s blog. If not, scroll down. I put those updates in the print (and online) editions as well for today. Here’s what I’ve got

DOTHAN EAGLE:
Maestri hoping for postseason invite - basketball
DOTHAN EAGLE: Football notebook: Franks out for spring practice

The Harlem Globetrotters put on a show in Troy Monday night. I wasn’t there, but Ken Rogers wrote this excellent piece on what happened. Check it out.

Caught the Sun Belt semifinals. I think the best two teams at this moment are Western Kentucky and North Texas, but WKU beat UNT in one semifinal. South Alabama, which came into the tournament on a roll that was hidden by Troy’s success, played well enough to beat Arkansas-Little Rock, which looked absolutely dreadful. So, it’s WKU vs. South Alabama at 9 p.m. I really thought Troy would be there vs. WKU, especially if they got past South Alabama.

Oh, well. Here’s a poll for your voting pleasure.

Don’t forget baseball tonight on the radio. Play-by-play man Barry McKnight had a heck of a turnaround, as rumor has it he and media relations ace Travis Jarome made the trip back to Troy overnight after the game Sunday (not sure if ace color commentator Jerry Miller was on that ride or not). Barry and fellow media relations ace Ricky Hazel will broadcast the Troy vs. North Florida midweek series beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Google maps tell me that from Hot Springs, Ark., to Jacksonville, Fla., going down 231 through Montgomery and Dothan, is 888 miles. Barry lives in Auburn, so from Auburn to Hot Springs is 566 miles and from Jacksonville to Auburn (going the long way through Montgomery and Troy) is 412 miles. That’s a lot of driving/riding (and more math than I’d like to calculate).
