The Alabama National Day of Prayer Task Force is seeking volunteers in each county to coordinate a 2012 National Day of Prayer event in local communities. First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main St., in Dothan, will have a parent date night on Friday, Jan. 13, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The event will be held in the youth assembly room on the youth floor. Johns Chapel AME Church, 605 Geneva Highway, in Enterprise will host a city-wide celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. A youth celebration will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m. with the keynote celebration set for Sunday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. Music will be provided by a city-wide mass choir. All singers are invited to join in. The next rehearsal will be Thursday at Johns Chapel at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend both events and to participate in the choir. The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville will host a one-day Worship Conference on Friday, Jan. 13, featuring educational sessions by Dennis and Nan Allen and Buford Cox. The Worship Conference, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. costs $25, which includes lunch. Klondyke Gospel Music Center, located halfway between Newton and Ozark at 3885 Highway 123 S., will host Dane Bailey of Fort Wayne, Ind., Friday, Jan. 13; The Brady's of Columbia, Saturday, Jan. 14. Free admission. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Grimes Gospel Lighthouse, 1512 County Road 25, Grimes, will host local talent from the Dothan area at 7 p.m. on Saturday. An offering will be taken. Sunday services at 10:30 a.m.

Green Valley Baptist Church in Abbeville will host its annual Missionary Extravaganza on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. Minister Josephine Marlow of Clopton will be the guest speaker.

The Westgate Church of Christ will have a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. beginning in the church’s sanctuary and concluding on the site of a planned 30,000-square-foot children’s ministry wing. The project includes upgrades to the current youth and adult ministry facilities.

First United Methodist Church in downtown Enterprise will begin the new Beth Moore Bible Study, “James – Mercy Triumphs,” on Sunday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. The class is free and open to everyone, but participants will need to purchase a workbook. Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark will hold its annual January Bible Study on Sunday, Jan. 15, with focus on the study of the book of Ecclesiastes. The Enterprise Community Awareness Organization Martin Luther King Jr. program will be held on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Johns Chapel AME Church, located at 605 Geneva Highway in Enterprise. The Rev. Bobby B. Cox Jr., pastor, Bethel AME Church in Mobile, will serve as keynote preacher for this MLK Celebration.

Living Waters Counseling, Inc., a non-profit Christian counseling service in Headland, will provide a new service beginning Jan. 16 to help provide a live “voice” for people to talk to when they are having a bad day, a sad day or a confusing day. We are opening The Wiregrass Warmline. People can call the Wiregrass Warmline from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Johns Chapel AME Church Gospel will host a music workshop reunion with Church of God in Christ Superintendent William Keith Ellison, who returns to celebrate the legacy he began with the Johns Chapel Young Adult Choir in 1986. Rehearsals will be held Thursday and Friday, Jan 19-20, at 6:30 p.m. The concert will be on Sunday, Jan 22, at 5 p.m. Workshop registration is $5 for youth ages 13-18 and $10 for adults. The Spiritual Enrichment Center at 942 S. Oates St. in Dothan will hold a Nature Oneness weekend experience on Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m., Jan. 21 with four two-hour sessions beginning at 10 a.m. and on Jan. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. There is a suggested offering of $15 to $25 per session attended with proceeds to benefit the center.
