A multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon has several people wondering how their vehicles will be repaired, and led the woman responsible for the damage to be charged with DUI.
Brandon Adams described the scene a few feet outside Art’s Music Store where he works as being chaotic Monday afternoon.
“I just know that I saw it swerve right in front of the store,” Adams said.
Dothan Police Sgt. Todd David, the department’s traffic supervisor, confirmed that police arrested Deanna Renee Wimberly, 32, of South Iroquois Avenue. She was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. David declined to comment on the type of drugs believed to be involved until blood test results were returned.
David said the woman was traveling westbound, came across the eastbound lanes of traffic, then crashed into several parked cars. David said there were a total of six vehicles damaged, including the one Wimberly drove. He also said the music shop was damaged during the crash.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot between The Blushing Bride and Art’s Music Store on West Main Street, near Cherokee Avenue.
Adams said he and another co-worker had to get a ride to work after their cars were damaged during the crash. He said a window in the basement of the store broke during the crash.
Leisha Hall, the owner of The Blushing Bride store, said the incident left the vehicles of two customers damaged, along with one of the store’s employees’ vehicles. She said her store’s parking lot has recently seen a lot of traffic during what she called prom season.
“After school, which is when it was, it’s really a full parking lot, normally,” Hall said. “I’m amazed and very thankful nobody was killed.”
