Houston County Sheriff’s investigators arrested five people Thursday on burglary charges in connection to a scam dubbed ““Running the Rug.”

According to a statement released by Capt. Antonio Gonzalez, deputies arrested Jacqueline M. O’Hara, 66, Eddie Anthony O’Hara, 36, Mike Joseph O’Hara, 41, and Kathy Ann Denton, 44, all of Grovetown, Ga., and charged them each with felony second-degree burglary. Heather Brooke Davis, 33, of Inverness, Fla., was also arrested and charged with the same crime.

Gonzalez said in the statement the allegations stemmed from a scam which involved some people who pretended to install or show samples of carpet or linoleum and through the demonstration others will enter the home and steal the victim’s property.

The arrests came after a reported burglary on Alabama Highway 123 in Newton Thursday.

All five people are being held on a $200,000 bond.
