Dothan police charged a Troy University Dothan professor Wednesday with sex abuse of a 21-year-old woman.
According to a police statement, investigators arrested Ronald Phillip Bae, 62, of Cottonwood, and charged him with felony first-degree sex abuse. Police said the charge was the result of an investigation involving inappropriate sexual contact.
Bae was taken to the Dothan City Jail and held on a $15,000 bond, and will later be transferred to the Houston County Jail.
Dothan City Jail records listed Bae as an employee at Troy University.
Dothan Police Capt. Steve Parrish, supervisor of the criminal investigation division, said the sex abuse crime allegedly happened at Bae's business, and has no affiliation with Troy University.
Bae owns a Dothan business located on North Oates Street called Bae Polygraph & Hypnosis Center. Bae is also a member of the Georgia, Florida and Alabama polygraph associations.
According to the Troy University Dothan Web site, Bae serves as a professor of criminal justice. The Web site also showed he has earned his doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned his under graduate degrees from the University of Evansville in Indiana.
According to court records, Bae has worked at Troy University for 23 years.
