Troy attempted murder suspect gets bond reduced

A judge recently reduced the bond for a Troy man charged with shooting a woman in the head.

Court records show Circuit Court Judge Thomas Head reduced the bond for Rodrick Monroe, 49, of Chase Lane, to $10,000 from $50,000 after a bond hearing on Monday. Records show Head reduced the bond with the condition that he not contact the victim of the crime.

Assistant Pike County District Attorney Tom Anderson said Monroe was charged with putting a gun to his girlfriend’s head and pulling the trigger. Anderson said the woman suffered serious physical injury from the shooting, which records show happened in 2005.

Monroe was arrested earlier this year and had been held on a $50,000 bond. He has a plea hearing scheduled in court next month.

Susan James, a Montgomery lawyer, who represented Monroe could not be reached for comment.
