A man acquitted in Dale County earlier this month for felony sodomy and rape charges now faces similar charges involving the same alleged victim in Coffee County, according to authorities.
Hill Nolan Bryant, 28, of Dothan, was charged last week with second-degree rape and second-degree sex abuse in Coffee County after a warrant was issued for his arrest in September, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
Bryant was acquitted by a jury in Dale County on Nov. 4 for the second-degree sodomy and second-degree rape charges he faced from an incident that allegedly occurred in 2008, when authorities said Bryant had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in Clayhatchee.
Coffee County Assistant District Attorney Tom Anderson said the charges involve the same female, but stem from an Enterprise Police Department case.
Anderson said he recently became aware of the Enterprise charges after he was notified by a former relative of Bryant’s.
Anderson said all indications show his office will move forward and prosecute the case as any other.
“Of course we will confer with Dale County on the case and discuss any impediments there may have been,” Anderson said.
Bryant’s attorney, Billy Joe Sheffield, said the same charges were also reported in a Florida county.
“Florida chose not to do anything. Of course, juries are different in every county, but we hope this case will go in the favor of Mr. Bryant,” Sheffield said.
