A Cottonwood man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Ashford Thursday morning.

The wreck occurred at around 9:48 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 84 and Rocky Creek Road. Houston County Deputy Coroner Ben Earnest said a pickup truck travelling north on Rocky Creek Road was struck by a semi truck traveling west on U.S. Highway 84. Earnest said the driver of the pickup failed to yield. The semi struck the pickup on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver of the pickup, William Edward Mercer, 83, died of multiple blunt force trauma. Mercer, of Cottonwood, was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:45 a.m. by Earnest.
