A Dale County Grand Jury will hear the case next year of a woman who was charged recently with taking funds from a parent-teacher organization.

Dale County Sheriff's investigators charged Brandace M. Albritton, 35, of Midland City, with theft of property in the first degree on Oct. 16, according to a press release from the sheriff's department.

According to the statement, an investigation showed Albritton spent in excess of $4,000 belonging to the Newton Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization for personal matters. She had served as the organization's president, according to the report.

She was booked into the Dale County Jail and released on $5,000 bond, according to the report.

Dale County Schools Superintendent Donny Bynum said he had not comment on the case.

According to court records, the case is set to go before a grand jury in January.
