Riley says bingo bill rigged for gaming interests

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley said the bingo bill recently passed by the Senate and now being taken up in the House is “Heads I win; tails you lose” for the gaming interests.

“This is not an up-or-down vote on gambling. And if that’s what the people want — an up-or-down vote — that’s not what they’ll get under Roger Bedford’s bill,” Riley said in a written statement Thursday. “That’s not what this bill does. It’s not a straight up-or-down vote. If the people vote yes, the casinos get the bailout they want. If the people vote no, the situation we have today continues.”
