Three robberies over a three-day period resulted in two people being arrested and a third person being sought for the latest heist.
Dothan police made arrests in an attempted robbery on Saturday, a robbery on Sunday, and were looking for the person who robbed a north Dothan convenience store on Monday afternoon.
Dothan Police Cpl. Rachel David said police responded to an armed robbery around 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Hobo Pantry convenience store in the 2400 block of Reeves Street. David said a man robbed the store and rode away in a black or navy four-door Buick. Police said the vehicle has chrome trim and hubcaps with spokes and a center cap.
Though no arrest was immediately made in that case, police captured another armed robbery suspect less than an hour after the robbery happened Sunday evening.
David said police arrested Steffon Tolver, 18, of Blackshear Street, Sunday evening and charged him with felony first-degree robbery. Police charged Tolver with robbing someone at gunpoint in the parking lot of an apartment complex off South Edgewood Drive. David said police arrested Tolver around 9 p.m., less than an hour after the crime happened.
The statement said police “successfully” captured the suspect after a foot chase. Police recovered the alleged robbery weapon, but declined to identify the weapon.
Tolver remained held at the city jail late Monday afternoon. If convicted of the class A felony crime of first-degree robbery, Tolver faces 10 to 99 years or life in prison.
Police said more charges are pending in the ongoing robbery investigation.
In an unrelated incident, police arrested Todd Popple on Saturday and charged him with an unsuccessful robbery of the BP Station in the 2100 block of Denton Road. According to a Dothan police statement, Popple entered the store around 4 p.m., demanded money from the cashier and left the store after the cashier refused to comply with the demand.
Police charged Popple with felony third-degree robbery. He was taken to the Houston County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond. If convicted of the class C felony third-degree robbery, Popple faces one to 10 years in prison.
